Thermoelectric cooling performance calculation:
Before applying the thermoelectric cooling, to further understand its performance, in fact, the cold end of the peltier module ,thermoelectric modules,absorbs heat from the surrounding, there are two: one is joule heat Qj; The other is conduction heat Qk. The current passes through the inside of the thermoelectric element to produce joule heat, half of the joule heat is transmitted to the cold end, the other half is transmitted to the hot end, and the conduction heat is transmitted from the hot end to the cold end.
Cold production Qc=Qπ-Qj-Qk
= (2p-2n).Tc.I-1/2j²R-K (Th-Tc)
Where R represents the total resistance of a pair and K is the total thermal conductivity.
Heat dissipated from the hot end Qh=Qπ+Qj-Qk
= (2p-2n).Th.I+1/2I²R-K (Th-Tc)
It can be seen from the above two formulas that the input electrical power is exactly the difference between the heat dissipated by the hot end and the heat absorbed by the cold end, which is a kind of “heat pump” :
Qh-Qc=I²R=P
From the above formula, it can be concluded that the heat Qh emitted by an electric couple at the hot end is equal to the sum of the input electric power and the cold output of the cold end, and conversely, it can be concluded that the cold output Qc is equal to the difference between the heat emitted by the hot end and the input electric power.
Qh=P+Qc
Qc=Qh-P
Calculation method of maximum thermoelectric cooling power
A.1 When the temperature at the hot end Th is 27℃±1℃, the temperature difference is △T=0, and I=Imax.
The maximum cooling power Qcmax(W) is calculated according to formula (1) : Qcmax=0.07NI
Where N — logarithm of the thermoelectric device, I — maximum temperature difference current of the device (A).
A.2 If the temperature of the hot surface is 3~40℃, the maximum cooling power Qcmax (W) should be corrected according to formula (2).
Qcmax = Qcmax×[1+0.0042(Th--27)]
(2) In the formula: Qcmax — hot surface temperature Th=27℃±1℃ maximum cooling power (W), Qcmax∣Th — hot surface temperature Th — maximum cooling power (W) at measured temperature from 3 to 40℃
